1.Aback  - Taken by surprise.
Synonyms  - surprised, thrown off guard.
Antonyms - Relax, Contended .

2. Abandon – To leave something and never return to it.
Synonyms - Desert, leave.
Antonyms – Continue, carry on.
*Railway has abandoned their outer signal.

3. Abase – To humiliate.
Synonyms – Degrade, Disregard, Dishonour.
Antonyms – Regard, Honour, Respect.
*Abasing someone is immortal.

4. Abashed – Make someone feel embarrassed or ashamed.

5.Abate – To make or become less strong.

39. Affluence – Having a lot of money.

40. Affront – An action or remark that causes outrage or offence.

Antonyms – Honour, Compliment.

41. Aggrandize – Increase power, Status or wealth of
Synonyms – Exalt, boost.
Antonyms – Abase, Degrade.
*Its a movie that aggrandizes the bad guys.

42. Aggravate – To make a problem worse.
Synonyms – Worsen, Compound.
Antonyms – Soothe, Calm.
*The symptoms were aggravated by drinking alcohol.

43. Agog – Very eager or curious to hear or see something.
Synonyms – Eager, Impatient.
*Antonyms – Reluctant, Uninterested.
*He was all agog on hearing  the news of his promotion.

44. Altercation – A noisy argument or disagreement,                                          especially in public .
   Synonyms – Quarrel, Bickering, affray , fracas.
   Antonyms – Agreement, Harmony.

        A general political talk should not lead to an altercation.



   45. Altruism – Disinterested and selfless concern for the well being of others.
     Synonyms – Benevolence, Humanitarianism.
     Antonyms – Greediness, Meanness.

   46. Amalgamate – To combine to form a larger group.
      Synonyms – To merge, Combine.
      Antonyms – Separate, Disjoin

   47. Ambiguous – Open to more than one interpretation, not having one obvious meaning.
    Synonyms – Unclear, Confusing.
    Antonyms – Clear, Obvious.
·      Ambiguous answers must be removed.  

    48. Ameliorate – Making a situation better, Less painful.
     Synonyms – Mitigate, Improve.  
     Antonyms – Worsen, Aggravate.
·      Government grant is ameliorating the situation in the territory.

    49. Amenable – Open and responsive to suggestions.
     Synonyms – Compliant, Manageable, Persuadable,              Conformable, Tractable.
     Antonyms – Stubborn, Rigid, Non – compliant.
·      A better way to resolve the problems is being amenable.

    50. Amicable – Friendly behaviour of a person.
      Synonyms – Friendly, Good- natured.
       Antonyms – Unfriendly, Hostile.
·      Noble people are always amicable.

     51. Annul – To make something legally void.
       Synonyms – Cancel, Abolish, Invalidate.
       Antonyms – Accept, Validate.
·      The contract was annulled by the second party .

      52. Anomaly – Deviation from the normal or common order or form or rule.
       Synonyms – Oddity, Peculiarity.
       Antonyms – Conformity, Normality.
·      We do not publish cheap quality books as it is an anomaly to our policy.

      53. Antagonism – A strong felling of dislike or hatred.
        Synonyms – Hate, Prejudice.
        Antonyms – Love, Affection.
·      Man cannot be an antagonist as he  has to live in the society.

     54. Antipathy – A strong  felling of dislike.
       Synonyms – Aversion, Dislike, Distaste.
       Antonyms – Affinity, Cordiality.
·      Pakistan’s antipathy is open to India.

    55. Antithesis – The direct or exact opposite.
      Synonyms – Counterpart, Converse.
      Antonyms – Same, Identical.
·      It seems that he has decided to  be in antithesis of my opinion.

    56. Aphorism – A short, wise and true statement.
       Synonyms – Adage, Maxim.
       Antonyms – Nonsense, Absurdity.
·      “Honesty is the best policy” is a very practical aphorism.

    57. Aplomb – Confidence and style.
       Synonyms – Assurance, Poise, cool.
       Antonyms – Gaucheness, Discomposure.
·      Continuous Failure had a great effect on his aplomb

    58. Apocryphal – Well known but probably not true.
       Synonyms – Fictitious, Made up.
       Antonyms – Authentic, Real.
·      Existence of God is an apocryphal fact to the people world wide.

    59. Apogee – Most successful part of something.
        Synonyms – The top, Apex, culmination
        Antonyms – Bottom, Base, perigee.
·      Romance is the apogee of relationship.

    60. Appease – to make someone pleased or less angry by giving or saying something they desire.
       Synonyms – To pacify, Placate, Assuage, Conciliate,              gentle, Gruntle, Lenify, Propitiate, Quell, Stay,Molligy.
       Antonyms – Annoy, Irrritate.
·      His appeasing behaviour is always appreciated.

*    61. Append – to add something to the end of a writing.
       Synonyms – Add, Attach.
       Antonyms – Disjoin, Detach.
·      It is always advisible to append the hints to a mathematiacal problem.
    
    62. Apportion – To divide something among people.
       Synonyms – Distribute, Allocate.
       Antonyms – Keep, Withhold
·      The property of the deceased man was apportioned between his two sons.
